Licensed Professional Counselor

Michelle Jacobs.jpg

Michelle Jacobs, M.S., LPC

I am a veteran and a licensed professional counselor (LPC) living in Stephenville, Texas with 9 years of experience in the behavioral health field. While pursuing an education from Tarleton State University towards becoming an LPC, I spent more than 4 years working in the mental health field providing case management, advocacy, and crisis response services to individuals living in rural communities. I have worked with clients in addressing a wide spectrum of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, life changes, self-esteem, substance abuse, and more. I am most experienced in providing care for those ages 12 and up. My time spent within the behavioral health field has allowed me to gain experience working with a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.

My therapy style is comforting, yet direct and interactive. I believe in meeting a client where they are at, understanding that trust is an essential part of a healthy counseling relationship, and the timeline for developing that trust looks different for everyone. My approach is integrative, utilizing techniques mainly from person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, trauma-focused, and mindfulness-based therapies. Whether you already know what you want to gain from counseling not, we’ll work together to identify realistic goals and techniques that fit into your life.

For many of us asking for help, especially when it comes to our mental well-being, isn’t easy. Whatever it is that led you here, I encourage you to acknowledge that you've taken that first step. I encourage you to give yourself credit for this. I encourage you to be mindful, to be honest, and to acknowledge each step you take throughout your journey. The little things come together faster than you think. When you’re ready for that next step, I look forward to supporting and encouraging you through the process.

“If you change nothing, nothing will change.”
Michelle Jacobs, LPC
